USCIS has released FAQs on ELIS (Electronic Immigration System), including information on what is ELIS, the types of benefit requests that are currently available in ELIS, questions on Form I-20, how to file and make a payment, how to use ELIS with an attorney or accredited representative, and more.  The ELIS system has been created to modernize the process for filing and adjudicating immigration benefits.

Currently, USCIS ELIS is available for certain students & visitors who need to file a stand-alone Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status (Form I-539).  Future releases will add form types and functions to the system, gradually expanding to cover all USCIS immigration benefits.
